RELEASED: MamboCharge 1.3.5 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Monday, 04 September 2006

MamboCharge 1.3.5 has been released and is available in the download area. Please download the manual as well and consult the upgrade instructions prior to installing your upgrade.

Here is a cumulative list of changes since release of version 1.3.0

  • Implemented a workaround for a Zend Optimizer bug that was causing the admin toolbar to disappear on certain sites where PHP is installed as a CGI and also caused a "Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded" error.
  • Fixed bug in site subscription purchase handler that was causing zero-amount sales to fail with nonexistent function error.
  • Addition of MTree purchase handler. When upgrading existing sites you must manually add the mambocharge_mtlisting_purchase.php handler as a Purchase type handler for MTree as well as mambocharge_mtlisting_cancelpurchase.php as a cancel purchase handler. The latter will execute if the purchase iscancelled or a refund is issued.
  • Fixed admin bug that was adding extra blank rows to the product and category tables on systems where the RG_EMULATION option was turned off.
  • Added licensing functionality for unlimited site licenses.
  • Fixed bug that affected the reordering of products from the Admin Product management page. It only affects Mambo sites as it calls a function from the Joomla core that is not available in Mambo.

  • Users of the SMF forum have reported a duplicate function declaration error in the showpaymentoptions page. The function has been renamed to eliminate the conflict.

Mambo 4.5.4 integration notes PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 03 August 2006

We have released a new integration kit to support MamboCharge under Mambo version 4.5.4. The new kit is available in the download area. Please view the README.txt file for installation instructions.

Those who are running MamboCharge under Mambo should be aware that the latest releases of our custom registration component com_jw_registration_13 and login module mod_login_jw_13 are NOT compatible with Mambo 4.5.4 as they call core functions that are not available in Mambo.

The correct versions of these components are in the Mambo Integration section of the download area. They should be used together with the Mambo 4.5.4 patch kit for site subscriptions.

Released: MamboCharge version 1.3.0 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Monday, 31 July 2006

MamboCHARGE-PLUS Version 1.3.0 has been released and is now available for download. A new manual is also available in the download area.

Upgrade instructions are the same for version 1.3.0 as for prior versions and are documented in the Support Forum as well as the Webmaster's Manual. As always, be sure to back up your site, and especially make copies of any scripts you have modified or customized, including your language files.

While we have not yet completed the integration of additional payment gateways in this release we have made some structural changes in the program that will pave the way to add these in a modular fashion in the future. That will be the top priority for the next development cycle.

Version 1.3.0 does include some important and long-awaited enhancements.

  • Idev Affiliate integration - IDev Affiliate integration is achieved now by selecting a checkbox in the MamboCharge configuration console. The code will be inserted for you automatically on the return page
  • Handling products with a price of zero - If you enable the checkbox in the configuration console the program will immediately activate any purchase where the price resolves to zero either because the product is set up that way or because a coupon reduced the price to zero. Note well: The preferred way of giving customers a free trial is by using the free trial period in your product configuration.
  • Site subscription "purchase" handler - a new handler has been integrated to set up site subscriptions based on a one-time purchase, rather than  using the recurring subscription mechanism. Subscriptions set up this way have a fixed expiration date, and will expire when that date passes rather than by the receipt of an IPN message from PayPal. If you offer free subscriptions you should set them up as "purchase" type transactions and use this handler.
  • Western Union and pay-by-check integration - these options are now enabled or disabled by a checkbox on the configuration console. The contact information for Western Union and pay-by-check are also maintained now via the configuration console. You can even switch off PayPal now using an option on the configuration page.
  • PayPal configuration has been simplified. Variables that should not change are now protected from being changed from the admin console.
  • Additional configurable text messages on the Payment Options page - these are enabled by the include/payment_options_pretext_english.php and include/payment_options_posttext_english.php files. If they exist and have content in them, these files will be displayed above and below (respectively) the payment options pages. You can put whatever messages you wish in these files. If your language is other than english you should create the file in language of your site (payment_options_pretext_french.php for example).
  • Extensive management reports are now available. To access the reports select "Reports" under the MamboCharge configuration menu. The first page gives a list of users which you can filter. When the listing comes up, click on the "details" link for detailed tabular reports listing the member's details, all MamboCharge transactions whether completed or not, subscription status, IPN's and pay-per-click transactions.
  • Manual subscription creation and editing - The subscription report tab has an option to manually add or update the
    member's subscription.

New releases to support Joomla 1.0.10 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 11 July 2006

Joomla 1.0.10 introduced some new security features that now require users of the new version to upgrade their sites. These are mandatory upgrades.

MOD_LOGIN_JW

  • Version 1.3.1 of mod_login_jw has been released. To avoid confusion, the module is named mod_login_jw_13. This is a mandatory upgrade for those using Joomla 1.0.10 and later ONLY. Do not use it on older versions of Joomla. Download the package and install it as any other module. Unpublish your old mod_login_jw and publish the new one in its place. Be sure to check the configuration parameters and change them to match your old module.
  • If you already downloaded and installed version 1.3 of mod_login_jw (9 people did) you must download this new version once again. There was a bug in the first release of 1.3 that caused the "subscribe" button to appear instead of the "register" button on the first display of the page. In addtion, the registration link has been changed to link to the new registration component.
  • This version also gives you a new configuration option to help integrate with vBulletin by emulating the vBridge login module. This feature should be used only for testing. It has  not been adequately tested to certify it for use on production sites. Please add your comments to the Third Party integration topics in the Support Forum.
COM_JW_REGISTRATION
  • Version 1.3.0 of com_jw_registraton_13 has been released. To avoid confusion with prior versions, the component name is also changed as noted, and will install as com_jw_registration_13. This is also a mandatory upgrade for those using Joomla 1.0.10 and later ONLY. Do not use it on older versions of Joomla.
  • In addition to offering compatibility with Joomla 1.0.10 the new release integrates new Terms and Conditions functionality.
  • To enable the new terms and conditions functions first create a "Static Content Item" using the content editor. Then open the JW Registration component configuration page and select "yes" to enable the function, and select which Static Content Item to display for the terms and conditions. Finally you will need to install and publish the new jw_termsbot.

JW_TERMSBOT

  • JW_termsbot works together with the terms and conditions functions on your registration component. When you publish this bot, it will check if your user has agreed to the T&C. If they have not, it will display the T&C page to them once again. In fact once a user has logged in, they will be unable to do anything until they agree to the T&C.
